Venky Ramachandran is an independent Agritech Analyst, Consultant and Researcher at Krishi.System. He is the unofficial “ecosystem” guy in agritech.

I am convinced that complex problems are better solved by an ecosystem approach. I have been fortunate to discover a bespoke career design - "Agritech Ecosystem Engineer"- to solve the pressing problems in Indian Agriculture.

What is Agritech Ecosystem Engineering? It has 3 'C' Pillars
1. Content - To provide an ecosystem view point and build a narrative that goes beyond the agenda of investors and founders.

I write 'Krishi.System' - a newsletter which goes out to 45K+ subscribers and 100+ paid subscribers. I cover agritech developments in smallholding contexts. I host "State of Agritech" K.S Townhalls where I host agritech panels on every sub-sector themes under the big hard Sun. I write "State of Agritech" subscriber-only updates read by agritech investors, founders, donors, development sector professionals across 99+ countries in the globe. I record podcast with diverse bevy of experts working in food, water, agriculture systems in smallholding and broad holding contexts. I teach "Global Agritech 101" course to founders, investors, code-to-croppers and impact sector professionals.

2. Community - To build a community of Agripreneurs that enables founders to come together to address a lot of infrastructural gaps and policy gaps.

Along with my Agripreneur friends, I host Agripreneur Retreats to strengthen the Agripreneur ecosystem for a glorious future of Indian Agriculture. We have hosted five Agripreneur Retreats so far in Nashik, Bangalore, Jaipur, Odisha and Coimbatore. Wherever I travel across the country, I host Agripreneur Meetups in Tier-1/2/3 parts of the country. I also midwife a 300+ strong Agripreneurs Community passionate about Impact. We are currently experimenting with jobs, community investing

3. Consulting - Designing emergent structures that leverages an ecosystem approach to solve some of the structural challenges in Indian Agriculture.

I have worked with agribusinesses, Agritech VC firms, Development Organizations, Policy Think Tanks, Research Organisations and few Government Organizations on all things agritech. My agritech ecosystem engineering approach is deeply inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's vision for Rural India, encapsulated in his classic tome, 'Hind Swaraj'.
My work has been featured in Inc42, Agtech Navigator, TechInAsia, Tenacious Ventures (Australian agritech VC firm), Agfunder, The Hindu Business Line, Kalaari (Indian agritech VC firm), Indian Express, PrecisionAg, AgroPages, Agribusiness Global and Crop Life publications. His vision for Indian Agriculture was recorded on the TED platform in 2021.
